Couch Potatoes

At last – here’s the result of my non-stop animation collaboration with Arnold Zwanenburg and Studio GooGoo in Rotterdam.

It’s taken a couple of weeks longer than I had planned, mainly because I’ve had problems with the editing.

I’m going to expand on the process in a later post – if only so I don’t procrastinate any more in getting this online.

The moral of the story – you should always try to switch off your TV and go and do something less boring instead…

  • Hi Simon,

just had your animation for breakfast and I really enjoyed watching it. I love the facial expressions especially of the left guy. They really have character!

There’s one thing which is related to the compression I guess. I watched it three times now and the part where the poor left potato became a spring looks very unsmooth. And the animation probably was too quick for 12 fps?

The rest is well done! It’s easily readable and the story is developed with a nice pace. Two thumbs up from me!

  • Hey – it’s nutritious and delicious.

The spring section is the least successful, it’s true. It would have been much better to do it in the camera with rigging, but at first it seemed we would not make the deadline. And I should have spent much more time on the PhotoShop work – but I hate PhotoShop!

  • I loved that short! You’ve got a lot of the animation principles worked in, and it’s very humorous. Great job, guys!

  • Thanks Pram – glad you stopped by. Good luck with your work in the US…
