Brown cellophane update

edding750_brownI suggested recently that puppet animators should rush to their local supermarket to buy Christmas puddings for their rare brown cellophane wrapping. For, as we know, brown cellophane is key to producing realistic tea-pouring effects in stop-frame animation.

But no! It turns out I was mistaken. There is another, simple way to create the same effect – colour some easy-to-find clear cellophane with a brown marker pen.

It’s so obvious when you think about it. Which makes my efforts to track down the real thing even more annoying now. In the end, I had to make do with some vaguely brown sweet wrappers, which worked OK. But I would have saved myself a lot of time and energy if I had thought about the problem more laterally.
